Recently, the writer of the "Hyde Jekyll, Me" webtoon that SBS has adapted into a drama has been gaining attention from Korean drama fans as he accused the makers of "Kill Me, Heal Me", a MBC drama that they were copying his ideas.
As you all know, both dramas of "Hyde Jekyll, Me" and "Kill Me, Heal Me", are based on a tale of a women who falls in love with a man that has multiple personality disorder but the twist are in "Hyde Jekyll", the female character doesn't know that she falls in love with the same person whereas in "Kill Me, Heal Me", the female character is a doctor who falls in love with her patient.
Lee Choong Ho, the webtoon writer, posting on his official Twitter account, stated that "The first romcom drama about a romance between a women and a man who suffers from multiple personality disorder was "Hyde Jekyll, Me". The other drama has stolen my idea."
An SBS representative that spoke to the media outlet OSEN, said that the producers were not aware of Lee Choong Ho's tweet and explained that the the producers of "Hyde Jekyll, Me" had not heard about this social media post before. Thus, they were surprised by this situation.
On the other hand, a spokesperson for “Kill Me, Heal Me” told eDaily Star, that they started planning their drama in January 2014 but they only heard that "Hyde Jekyll, Me" would be adapted as a drama in fall 2014 when they found out about the existence of the original webtoon. When they were planning this drama, we expected that other similar dramas focusing onto Multiple Personality Disorder could appear, which led them to release the information about their storyline early.
What do you think about it? Is it a plagiarism? Have you watched both dramas? Do you know that actor Ji Sung who acts in "Kill Me, Heal Me" used to act in "Secret"? Before we watch the dramas why don't we reminisce actor Ji Sung's previous acting in "Secret"! Let's watch it together!
